The 3,605-ton USS BRADLEY is an Oliver Hazard Perry Class ship capable of reaching speeds of 29 knots. In honor of the holiday weekend, the ship arrives at Penn’s Landing Friday, August 29, 2008. Visitors are welcome to board the ship from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. or from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. August 29 through September 1.The USS BRADLEY is a 453 foot-long guided-missile frigate whose homeport is located in Mayport, Florida. Built by Bath Iron Works Corporation the ship was launched on August 13, 1983 and commissioned on June 30 1984. The ship is capable of carrying 46 torpedoes and 2 hangars. She has been deployed under operational control of the U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command as part of a Joint/Inter-Agency Task force conducting Counter Narcotics Trafficking operations in the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific.
The USS BRADLEY was also deployed in 2007 to conduct counter terrorism operations. During this deployment, the BRADLEY trained 22 Peruvian Naval Personnel on emergency procedures and ship control and has visited the Panama Canal four times during participation in a variety of community relations projects.
